Theme:
Art and Literature as a Medium of Social Change: The Dialogic Nature of Art

Art and literature have always been powerful instruments for awakening human consciousness and inspiring collective transformation. From ancient murals, folk songs, epics, and theatre traditions to modern poetry, novels, cinema, and visual arts, creative expressions have acted as catalysts for social reform, justice, and human values.

In the Indian context, movements led by saints, poets, painters, and reformers such as Kabir, Tagore, Amrita Sher-Gil, Gandhi’s use of khadi as symbolic art, and contemporary art practices have contributed to shaping society. Globally, literature and art have challenged slavery, colonialism, gender inequality, environmental issues, and discrimination.

This seminar/workshop intends to explore the dialogic and transformative role of art and literature as a medium of social change, connecting it with culture, philosophy, psychology, science, and technology.
